Papers of the Healy family [manuscript], 1859-1960.

Elliott Muse Healy, a University of Virginia student, describes the reaction in Charlottesville to John Brown's raid, and gives his own opinion on the event. In 1860 he mentions a trip to Richmond, demoralizing influences at the University, and a society election. Also include an 1862 letter, state senator Joseph Christian encloses a War Department discharge and conveys rumors of action in Tennessee. Also include two envelopes, and a covering letter from Lucy P. Minor to Constance duPont Darden.
